Rollover caused after driver avoids cat

CASSOPOLIS – Cass County Sheriff Joseph M. Underwood Jr. reports his office is investigating a personal-injury crash that occurred on Friday, Sept. 18, at approximately 9:15 a.m.
Deputies were called to the 18000 block of Calvin Hill Street in Calvin Township for a single-vehicle rollover crash.
Investigation at the scene revealed that Phillip Quatman of Elkhart, Ind., was westbound on Calvin Hill Street when he swerved to miss a cat, causing his vehicle to drop off the edge of the road.
Quatman overcorrected the maneuver, causing the vehicle to go out of control, rolling over and coming to rest against a tree.
Quatman was transported to Elkhart General Hospital via Life Care Ambulance for treatment of injuries he received.
Also assisting at the crash scene were Penn Township fire personnel.
