Edwardsburg takes fourth

BERRIEN SPRINGS – The Niles boys’ and girls’ cross country teams finished second and third respectively at the Shamrock Invitational on Wednesday.

Led by overall champions Mark Calhoun and Madie Rodts, Niles finished behind host Berrien Springs in the girls’ race and behind Bridgman in the boys’ event.
Calhoun ran a time of 17:22 to take the title.

Edwardsburg’s Josh Clark finished third overall with a time of 18:03.

Zak Eggleston was 11th (19:14), Brandon Parsons 23rd (20:33), Evan Zimmerman 31st (21:18), Austin Payne 38th (22:01), Ben Peak 47th and A.J. Charpliwy 49th.

Rodts posted a time of 20:52 to win her second straight invitational. Rodts won Saturday’s Dowagiac Rotary Invitational as well.

Also placing in the top 10 were Anne Tyler (7th) and Alex Haimbaugh (8th) with times of 23:02 and 23:29 respectively.

Edwardsburg was led by Lindsay Ward, who was 22nd with a time of 24:54.
Taylor Kanaby was 23rd (24:58), Jessica Buzalski 29th (25:57), Miranda Bronicki 34th (26:34), Lisa Billings 36th (26:56), Kaitlyn Buzalski 38th and Kara Hodges 39th.

Lawton Relays
The Edwardsburg cross country teams fared well in the Lawton XC Trails Relays on Saturday.

The Lady Eddies took first in both Hill Hero and Slalom to take the overall title with 52 points.

Galesburg was second with 53 points and Bridgman third with 55 points.

In the boys’ events, Edwardsburg won the Hill Hero, but finished third behind Bridgman and Delton.

In the team relays, the Lady Eddies were second in the 4×1/2, as were the boys’ team.
