Miss and Jr. Miss Apple Fest contestants compete on Saturday

The Miss. and Jr. Miss Apple Festival pageant will be held on Saturday, Sept. 19 at 6:30 p.m. at the Niles High School.

There are six contestants vying for the Miss Apple Fest title for 2009. They include:

Rebecca Kastner
No. 1: Rebecca is a 16-year-old junior at Buchanan High School. Her schools activities include marching and concert band, drum major, wrestling manager and varsity soccer.
Her hobbies include horseback riding, dance, swimming, youth advisory council and photography. Her parents are Dennis and Tracy Kastner.

Kaleigh Horvath
No. 2: Kaleigh is a 16-year-old junior at Niles Senior High School. Her school activities include women’s choir, acapella singers, soccer and cheerleading. Her hobbies are shopping, baton, canoeing, singing and being with her friends. Her parents are Wiley and Tara Horvath.

Brittanie Ritchey
No. 3: Brittanie is a 17-year-old junior at Brandywine High School. Her school activities include varsity football and basketball cheerleading. Her hobbies are baking, reading, cleaning and spending time with family and friends. Her parents are Gail Anglin and Randy Ritchey.

Alexandria Hemphill
No. 4: Alexandria is a 16-year-old junior at Buchanan High school. Her school activities include softball, students against drunk driving, close up and Spanish club. Her hobbies are traveling, photography, helping others and spending time with family and friends. Her parents are Brad and Brenda Hemphill.

Ariel Fuller
No. 5: Ariel is a 17-year-old junior at Buchanan Senior High School. Her school activities include soccer, marching and concert band. Her hobbies are soccer, shopping and spending time with family and friends. Her parents are Susan and Troy Fuller.

Jade Hoglund
No. 6: Jade is a 16-year-old junior at Niles Senior High School. Her school activities include treasurer for Business Professionals of America, and she was a teen leader for PSI-postponing sexual involvement. Her hobbies are playing tennis, going for walks and spending time with family and friends. Her mother is Tracy Hoglund.

Here are 19 contestants for the title of Jr. Miss Apple Fest 2009:

Kaitlin Leonard
No. 1: Kaitlin is 14 years old and attends Dowagiac High School. Her mother is Patricia Leonard. Her dream career would be to become a psychologist. Her special honors include 10 years of dance awards.

Madeline Vorrath
No. 2: Madeline is 14 years old and attends Buchanan Middle School. Her parents are Randy and Sandra Vorrath. Her dream career would be to become a musician and songwriter. Her honors include two Principal’s Pen awards, honor roll, and basketball team captain.

Chelsea Kuntz
No. 3: Chelsea is 14 years old and attends Buchanan High School. Her parents are John and Cindy Kuntz. Her dream career would be to become and interior designer. Her special honors include honor roll and a citizenship award.
Sarah Long
No. 4: Sarah is 15 years old and attends Buchanan High School. Her parents are Jennifer and Kevin Rouse and Bill and Mandi Long. Her dream career would be to become a psychiatrist. Her honors include the honor roll.

Emily Archer
No. 5: Emily is 15 years old and attends Niles Senior High School. Her parents are Tim and Amy Archer. Her dream career would be to include honor roll, President’s Education Award and National Honor Society.

Presli Ferenczi
No. 6: Presli is 15 years old and attends Brandywine High School. Her parents are Steve and Tracie Ferenczi. Her dream career is to become a teacher. Her honors include honor roll and a good citizenship award.

Kierra Fillwock
No. 7: Kierra is 13 years old and attends Ring Lardner Middle School. Her parents are Keith and Lonnae Fillwock. Her dream career would be to become an Army nurse. Her special honors include The Breakfast of Champions, honor roll and the President’s Education Award.

Lacie Horvath
No. 9: Lacie isĀ  14 years old and attends Niles Senior High School. Her parents are Wiley and Tara Horvath. Her dream career would be to become a performer on Broadway. Her honors include honor roll, a Presidential award and she was a two-time nominee for All American Cheerleading.

Amnarissa Spencer
No. 10: Amnarissa is 13 years old and attends Ring Lardner Middle School. Her parents are Phillip and Melinda Spencer. Her dream career would be to become a doctor. Her special honors include honor roll, Science Olympic award and an award in mathematics.

Roxie Elliott
No. 11: Roxie is 13 years old and attends Buchanan Middle School. Her parents are Mac and Marta Elliott. Her dream career would be to become a performer on Broadway. Her honors include the honor roll and Pink Fee awards.

Katlynn Kennedy
No. 12: Katlynn is 13 years old and attends Buchanan High School. Her parents are Patrick and Christine Kennedy. Her dream career would be to become a surgeon. Her special honors include multiple cheerleading awards, honor roll and the Presidential excellence award.

Desiree Morris
No. 13: Desiree is 13 years old and attends Ring Lardner Middle School. Her parents are Richard and Carlyn Morris. Her dream career would be to become a nurse. Her special honors include a competitive cheerleading award for best-improved jumps.

Sierra Brattain
No. 14: Sierra is 13 years old and attends Brandywine Jr./Sr. High School. Her parents are Tim and Tina Bunch. Her dream career would be to become an author and illustrator.

Her special honors include honor roll, all-star softball, volunteering with special needs children.

Meghan Lahti
No. 15: Meghan is 14 years old and attends Niles Senior High School. Her parents are Christopher and Rebecca Lahti. Her dream career would be to become a horse chiropractor. Her special honors include the academic Presidential award

Kayla Flenar
No. 16: Kayla is 15 years old and attends Niles Senior High School. Her parents are Jim and Kelly Flenar. Her dream career would be to become an actress. Her special honors include the president’s outstanding academic excellence award, eighth grade cheerleading captain and honor roll.

Alyssa Farmer
No. 17: Alyssa is 13 years old and attends Buchanan Middle School. Her parents are Richard and Angela Scull. Her dream career would be to become a teacher. Her honors include honor roll, perfect attendance and a medal in floor hockey.

Paige Lamb
No. 18: Paige is 14 years old and attends Niles Senior High School. Her parents are Larry and Jayne Lamb. Her dream career would be to become an elementary teacher. Her special honors include honor roll, Academic Presidential Award and first place in the rabbit costume contest.

Hannah Montgomery
No. 19: Hannah is 13 years old and attends Ring Lardner Middle School. Her parents are Jeff and Kellie Montgomery. Her dream career would be to become a fourth grade teacher. Her special honors include Student of the Month, President’s Academic Achievement award and the Ronald McDonald House Charities Teen Board.

Brooklyn Kessler
No. 20: Brooklyn is 13 years old and attends Ring Lardner Middle School. Her parents are Kelly Weber and Tom and Becky Kessler. Her dream career would be to become a pediatrician. Her honors include student council, yearbook committee and two presidential awards.
