Friends may visit on Thursday, Sept. 17, from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. at Hope United Methodist Church, 69941 Elkhart Road, Edwardsburg.

The Service of Remembrance will be on Friday, Sept. 18, at 10 a.m., in the Hope United Methodist Church.

Friends may also visit for one hour before services on Friday at the church.

Burial will follow at Adamsville Cemetery.

According to Ontwa Township-Edwardsburg Police Chief Kenneth Wray, his officers are investigating the traffic crash that occurred on May Street at Britney Glenn in Ontwa Township south of Edwardsburg, which took the life of the Edwardsburg High School junior.

Officers from the Ontwa Township-Edwardsburg received a 911 call of a crash that occurred at about 1:30 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 12.

When the officer arrived, he found that a Chevrolet Camero had apparently lost control skidding sideways several feet before hitting a very large oak tree, according to Chief Wray.

Cody Michael Reid, 16, was extricated by Edwardsburg Fire Department and then transported by Edwardsburg Area Ambulance to South Bend Memorial Hospital where he died on Sunday, Sept. 13.

The young man was not wearing his seat belt at the time of the crash, according to the police reports, although his family have told the media he always wore one.

Speed may have been a factor, the police speculate. As Reid came over the hill on May Street, he may have had to swerve to avoid hitting two slower-moving cars.

This crash remains under investigation by the Ontwa Township-Edwardsburg Police.
