Dowagiac frosh, JV spikers swept by Niles

The Dowagiac freshmen and junior varsity volleyball teams were swept by visiting Niles Monday night.

The freshmen squad dropped a 27-25 and 25-20 decision to the Lady Vikings.

Kristyn Turner was the top server, while Hollie Olson was also singled out for her serving.

Jill Springsteen led the team in tips, blocks and spikes.

The Chieftains were defeated in three games by Niles, 25-16, 7-25 and 8-25
Rylie Cox was the top scorer with 12 points, with Carley Polomcak added six.

Correshia Rodgers had seven digs and four kills. Polomcak added seven kills.

“In the first game, the Chieftains were on fire and rallied to a victory, but lack of communication and inconsistent serving played havoc in the next two,” coach Denise Hutson said.
