Thomas Gene Montague-Tompkins, 62, of Barme Avenue, Niles, died at 2:30 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 10, 2009, at home.

Funeral services will be held at 9:30 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 12, at Hoven Funeral Home, Buchanan.

Burial will be in Silverbrook Cemetery, Niles.

Friends may call from one hour before services at the funeral home on Saturday.
He was born on Nov. 29, 1946, in South Bend, Ind., to Richard and Sylvia Tompkins, who preceded him in death.

He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Vietnam War.

He worked as a custodian at Saint Mary’s College for 10 years and the at the Dodge Metal Refinery.

On July 21, 1990, in Niles, he married Sandra (Weiser) Tompkins, who survives in Niles.
Additional surviving family include three daughters, Yolanda Tompkins of Niles, Yvette Linback of Niles and Yvonne Mead of Lyons, Colo.; four grandchildren; a brother, James Montague of Elkhart, Ind. and a sister, Debra Suit of South Bend, Ind.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Berrien County Humane Society.
