Leona M. Taylor, 87, of Rowland Street, Cassopolis, died in Indianapolis on Friday, Aug. 28, 2009, after an illness.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, Sept. 5, at 1 p.m. at the Connelly Funeral Home, Cassopolis. Elder David Johnson, pastor of Abundant Life Church, Indianapolis, Ind. will officiate.

Burial will be in Prospect Hill Cemetery, Cassopolis.

Friends may call at the funeral home on Friday, Sept. 4, from 5 to 8 p.m.
She was born on April 10, 1922, in Cassopolis, to Hobart Coker and Etta Bell (Wilson) Coker.

She was a 1940 graduate of Cassopolis High School and a life time area resident.

She was a retired nurses assistant at the former Pawating Hospital, Niles.

She is survived by five children, Robert Coker of Cassopolis, Judith A. (Marvin) Glover of Cassopolis, Roger W. (Vicki) Taylor of Warsaw, Ind., Veronica L. (Alan) Young of Austin, Texas and Velma Jean Evans of Dallas, Texas; 25 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents and a son, Richard “Dickie” Taylor.
Arrangements were by the Connelly Funeral Home, Cassopolis.
