CASSOPOLIS – Leona M. Taylor, 87, of 224 N. Rowland St., Cassopolis, died at 10 p.m. Friday, Aug. 28, 2009, at 1702 E. 32nd St., Indianapolis, Ind., after an illness.

The 1940 graduate of Cassopolis High School was born April 10, 1922, in Cassopolis to Hobart and Etta Bell (Wilson) Coker.

She retired as a nurse’s assistant at the former Pawating Hospital in Niles. She was a lifetime area resident.

Surviving are: five children, Robert Coker of Cassopolis, Judith A. (Marvin) Glover of Cassopolis, Roger W. (Vicki) Taylor of Warsaw, Ind., Veronica L. (Alan) Young of Austin, Texas, and Velma Jean Evans of Dallas, Texas.

A son, Richard “Dickie” Taylor, preceded her in death.

Her funeral will be at 1 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 5, at Connelly Funeral Home, Cassopolis, with Elder David Johnson, pastor of Abundant Life Church in Indianapolis, officiating.
Visitation will be Friday from 5 to 8 p.m. at Connelly Funeral Home.

Mrs. Taylor is survived by 25 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren.
