SCHOOLCRAFT – The Buchanan reached the finals of the Schoolcraft Invitational before falling to the defending Class C state champion Lady Eagles.

The Lady Bucks defeated Webberville (25-12, 25-5), Cabrine (25-15, 25-23), Parchment (25-14, 25-17) and Gobles (25-19, 25-19) to win their pool.

In the semifinals, Buchanan defeated Centreville 25-6 and 26-24.
Schoolcraft knocked off the Lady Bucks in the title match 25-12 and 25-14.

Audrey Oake had 50 kills, 10 blocks, eight digs and three aces for Buchanan, which also got 25 kills, eight blocks, 25 digs and six aces from Rachel Briggs.

Kelsie Patrick had 20 kills, while Alexis Lenox had 140 assists, 15 digs, six aces, four blocks and four kills.

Rachel Downs finished with 72 digs, six aces and four kills.

The Lady Bucks will open the home portion of their 2009 schedule on Monday when they host Dowagiac.
