James D. Allison, 74, of Sun City, Calif., died unexpectedly on March 6, 2009.

A military service will be conducted on Saturday, Aug. 29, at 11 a.m. at Connelly Funeral Home, Cassopolis, with Karl Crisler and the honor guard from the Efton James American Legion Post No. 206 and William E. Lozier VFW Post No. 10704, both of Cassopolis.
The family will receive friends one hour before the services.

He was born on Dec. 31, 1934, in Kalamazoo and graduated from Kalamazoo College.
After serving honorably in the U.S. Army during the Korean War, he relocated to California.

For many years he managed the boatdock and many triathalons at Green Valley Lake, a popular resort area.

At the time of his passing, he owned and operated “Fish-4-You” company serving Southern California in providing fish to lakes and ponds.

He is survived by his ex-wife Mertice; a son, James, Jr. and daughter, Sunday, all residing in Lomita, Calif.; a sister, Jean (James) Blatchford McDonald of Watervliet; three nephews, Lane (Kathy) of Paris, Todd of Oak Forest, Ill. and Scot Blatchford of St. Joseph; a niece, Allison (Scott) MacLagan of Valparaiso, Ind. and a cousin, Cheryl (William) Zylman of Augusta.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Dorothy Moag and his father, Clarence H. Allison.
To his many friends, he was never a stranger to anyone he met. He will always be remembered for his great sense of humor. His love of Jazz music – usually even dancing to a tune or two. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
