Edwardsburg 2-3 at Hackett tourney

KALAMAZOO – The Edwardsburg volleyball team went 2-3 at the Kalamazoo Hackett Invitational on Saturday.

The Lady Eddies were defeated in the semifinals by Lakeland Conference foe Coloma, 21-15 and 21-11.

In pool play, Edwardsburg defeated Gobles (21-8, 21-19), lost to Kalamazoo Christian (21-17, 19-21, 14-16) and lost to Coloma (24-25, 9-21).

In the quarterfinals, the Lady Eddies defeated Lakeland foe Brandywine 21-17 and 21-17.
“For our first tournament of the season I was pretty satisfied,” Edwardsburg coach Sarah Benjamin said. “We have been working a lot on defense, blocking and serve receive and I saw some improvement in those areas. I was proud we were able to compete and fight back against a couple good teams we just need consistency which will come. I was very proud of the girls but especially Emily Getz, who stood out in her all-around game.”
