Lillian A. Kizer, 80, of Fulkerson Road, Niles, died at 11:30 a.m. Sunday, Aug. 23, 2009, at St. Joseph Regional Medical Center, South Bend, Ind., following an extended illness.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, Aug. 28, at the graveside, with the Rev. garland Rhodes of Portage Road General Baptist Church, officiating.

Burial will be in Mission Hills Memorial Gardens, Niles.
There will be no visitation.

She was born on May 22, 1929, in Niles, to Kenneth S. Merritt and Bernice M. Ireland Merritt.

She graduated from Niles High School and has lived in Niles most of her life.
She was employed for 30 years in the offices of the former Oliver Plow Works, South bend, Ind., eventually retiring from its successor, White Farm Equipment Manufacturing.
She enjoyed reading periodicals and completing crossword puzzles.

On Nov. 4, 1946, in Cape Girardeau, Mo., she married Alvin E. Kizer, who died o March 30, 2004.

She was also preceded in death by a sister, Mary Louise Roberts, who died on March 10, 2002.

Surviving family includes two sons, Larry L. Kizer of Reseda, Calif. and Craig A. (Linda) Kizer of Niles; grandchildren, Todd, Trent, Ashleigh, Lyndsey, Kristy, Meshelle and Stephanie; 14 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.

Memorial donations may be made to the American Diabetes Association.
