Sturgis wins Edwardsburg Invitational

EDWARDSBURG – Sturgis scored two goals in each half to capture the Edwardsburg Invitational on Saturday.

The Trojans defeated the host Eddies 4-1 in the title match.

Sturgis reached the finals with a 3-1 win over Marcellus in the second match of the day. Edwardsburg advanced to the finals with a 3-1 win over Comstock.

Marcellus defeated Comstock 6-1 in the consolation match.

The Trojans grabbed a 2-0 halftime lead in the championship match on goals by Oracio Garcia and Jose Reyes.

The lead reached 4-0 on goals by Geraldo Maldonoado and Garcia in the second half.

Edwardsburg averted the shut out on a goal by Zach Karamalegos.

In its first match of the season, the Eddies got first half goals from Daniel Holston and Andy Boyles to grab a 2-0 lead.

Chris Holtrum had the second half goal for Edwardsburg.
