Jim’s life began on Jan. 24, 1936, in Dowagiac, the son of Harold and Mary Alice (Felner) Casey.

He served his country in the U.S. Army.

Jim was united in marriage to Beverly Jean Anders on Jan. 26, 1957, in Pokagon.
He worked as a truck driver for Rudy Manufacturing, a foreman for Sundstrand, a production and operations manager for Modine and National Cooper Products and served as a policeman for Silver Creek Township for 13 years.

Jim was a member of the Dowagiac Moose and the National Rifle Association.
He loved NASCAR, followed Kyle Busch and enjoyed all sports – especially football.
He enjoyed woodworking, golf and fishing. He loved deer hunting and was very knowledgeable about guns.

He also loved Harley Davidson motorcycles and owned one for many years.

His loving family includes: his wife of 52 years, Jean Casey of Dowagiac; his children, James Allen (Tracy) Casey of New Port Richey, Fla., Thomas Richard (Lawra Jean) Casey of Niles, Steven Michael (Chantelle) Casey of Granger, Ind., and Jerry Eugene (Kelli) Casey of Dowagiac; grandchildren, Joshua, Justin, Matthew, Kasey, Nicole, Christopher, Ashley, Trevor, Collin, Aaron, Alyssa and Madelyn; and great- grandsons, Richard “R.J.” and William; sisters, Janet (James) Sayer, Ruth, Helen and H. Jean Casey, all of Dowagiac.

Jim passed away on Sunday, Aug. 9, 2009, at Borgess-Lee Memorial Hospital.
He is preceded in death by an infant brother and his parents.

Jim’s family will receive friends on Wednesday from 5 to 8 p.m. at McLauchlin-Clark Funeral Home, where his funeral service will be held on Thursday at 11 a.m.

He will be laid to rest in South Wayne Cemetery following the service.
