BROOKLYN – Carfax today named blues singer and songwriter Kenny Wayne Shepherd, along with Jordan and Jacob Vanderstel as grand marshals for the upcoming ‘Show Me the CARFAX Race Weekend’ at MIS.

Shepherd will grand marshal the NASCAR Nationwide Series CARFAX 250 on Saturday, Aug. 15.

Jordan and Jacob Vanderstel will handle the duty for the first-ever NASCAR Sprint Cup Series CARFAX 400 on Sunday, Aug. 16.

“We couldn’t have better representatives to help us kick off both races,” said Larry Gamache, communications director at Carfax.  “Jordan and Jacob are great kids whose excitement and enthusiasm typifies what NASCAR fans can expect this weekend at MIS. Kenny is an incredible artist who continues the tradition of post-race performers serving as the CARFAX 250 grand marshal.”

Nineteen year-old Jordan and fourteen year-old Jacob, from Hudsonville, Mich., were diagnosed with muscular dystrophy. They receive care through the Helen DeVos Children’s Hospital in Grand Rapids, Mich. Both are huge NASCAR fans; Jordan’s favorite driver is Jimmie Johnson while Jacob prefers Jeff Gordon.

Kenny Wayne Shepherd is a platinum recording artist who is best known for his smash hit “Blue on Black”.
