The Brandywine Community Schools are scheduled to dedicate its new track at the Middle/Senior High School at its season-opening football game against Lawrence on Friday, Aug. 28.

Until now, Brandywine has had its original cinder track, and the school has not been able to have a home track meet for nearly 15 years.

The new track is an all-weather, competitive surface and will be used for competition, physical education, and is open to the community for running and walking.

Other improvements to the sports complex include all new field event sites, a new football field and a new soccer field.

To show appreciation for the support given by the community, admission to the varsity game on Aug. 28, against Lawrence is free to all students, staff members, alumni of Brandywine and residents of the district.

Gates open at 5:30 p.m., and fans can enjoy walking on the new track.

Food will be available from our concession stand.

Dedication ceremonies will begin shortly after 6 p.m. Kickoff is at 7 p.m.

Information on obtaining free tickets will be mailed to Brandywine students and residents and will also be posted on the school district’s web site, http://www.brandywinebobcats.org.
