Lynes Taft Fulkerth / 1908-2009

Lynes Taft Fulkerth, 100, of Niles passed away at Westwood of Niles on Friday, July 31, 2009, with his family by his side.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, Aug. 4, at noon with a time of visitation one hour prior.  Brother Wes Arnold will be officiating.

He will be interred at Silverbrook Cemetery in Niles.

Lynes was born on Dec. 6, 1908 to the late William and Bertha (Gomar) Fulkerth in Niles. He was one of nine children in the Fulkerth household.

On Jan. 10, 1949 Lynes wed the love of his life, Evelyn Jane Rutherford at a ceremony in Niles. Together they had five wonderful children. Evelyn passed away in 2004.

Lynes worked at Green Giant as a mechanic for over 40 years before he retired and was a past member of the Moose Lodge in Buchanan.

He and Evelyn loved to go bowling and even won some competitions. Together they vacationed all around the country; at home they owned a farm where he raised hot house mushrooms.

He is preceded in death by his wife Evelyn; parents, William and Bertha; daughter Alice Fulkerth, and siblings, Ellen Welch, Pauline, Ruby, Bessie, Maude, Harrison, Roland and Fannie Fulkerth.

He is survived by his children, Debra Fulkerth of Des Moins, Iowa, Lyniece Adamczyk of Battle Creek, Doris (Johnnie) Carter of Niles and Bertha (Roger) Tharp of Niles, six grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.
