Noble wins sixth straight

THREE RIVERS – Chris Noble continues to rule area golf.

Noble won the 15-16 year old division of The Century, played recently at Pine View Golf Club near Three Rivers.

Noble shot 72 and 75 to finish with a 147, to finish seven strokes better than Vicksburg’s Scott Manski, who finished at 154.

It was his sixth straight championship in the seven years of the event.

Niles’ Alex Welch finished third in the Senior Division with a 159. Welch, who attends Mt. Union College, finished four strokes behind Plainwell’s Garrett Salinas, who shot 155.

Brett Phillips and John Schrader, both of Niles, shot 161 and 161 respectively in the 15-16 year old division.

In the 11-12 year old division, Niles’ Alec DeJonge finished second with a score of 177.
Sutton Dunwoodie of St. Joseph won the division with a 168. Dowagiac’s Jordan

Hagemann was third with a 184.

Niles won the team title with a score of 466. Schoolcraft and Vicksburg tied for second with a 468.

Michigan Junior Open

SOUTH HAVEN – Noble also won the first Michigan Junior Open held at HawksHead Links.

Noble had a two-day total of 148, which was second best in all divisions.

Welch also was a winner as he finished with a 154 to win by a stroke. DeJonge took second after winning a playoff with Dunwoodie.
