CASSOPOLIS – Sheriff Joseph Underwood Jr. reports that a fatal traffic crash occurred on Ironwood Drive near Bertrand Road in Cass County’s Milton Township.
The crash occurred on Sunday, July 26, at 6:15 a.m.
Investigation showed that Michael Jeffrey, 53, of Niles, was traveling south on his Honda Goldwing motorcycle on Ironwood when a large oak tree fell and struck Jeffrey.
Jeffrey was fatally injured. Next of kin were contacted and notified of Jeffrey’s death.
Cass County deputies were assisted on scene by Edwardsburg ambulance and Niles Township Fire Department.
Jeffrey was wearing a helmet at the time of the crash, which is under investigation.
