Wolverines advance to semis

The Blossomland Soccer League is down to its version of the Final Four.
The Blossomland Cup semifinals will be held on Thursday at the St. Joe Kickers Club in Arden and at Niles High School.

The top-seeded St. Joe Kickers Premier advanced to the semifinals with a 4-2 overtime win over Real Dowagiac on Sunday.

The Kickers will take on the Tornados, a 2-1 winner over Whirlpool United on Sunday.

The Premier and Tornados will play at the Kickers Club at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday.

The Niles Wolverine, the second seed, defeated St. Stephens Villains on Sunday 3-1 to move into the semis.
Athletic Jaier will meet the Wolverines on Thursday at Niles High School at 6:30 p.m. after defeating Diamonds United 3-1.

The winners of  Thursday’s semifinals will advance to the Kickers Club for the championship match on Sunday at 3 p.m.

The event is open to the public and is free of charge.
There will be no third place match this year.

Jason Girvan had a pair of goals for the Kickers, while Freddy Soto and Evan Lint also scored.

Rodolfo Hernandez and Octavio Hernandez scored for Real Dowagiac.

Tornadoes…2
Whirlpool United…1

Matt Beavers and Grigor Petkov scored for the Tornados.

Renzo Abrams had the lone goal for the United.

Wolverines…3
Villains…1

Andy Low, who won the Golden Boot as the league’s top scorer in Division 1, had two goals to help lead the Wolverines to victory.

Danny Rodts had the other goal for Niles.

Adam Hess scored for the Villains.

Athletic Jaier…3
Diamonds United…1

Clay Hewitt, Alex Boehm and Ryan Robinson netted the goals for Athletic Jaier.

Claston “Junior” Reid had the lone goal for the United.
