Ezell wins Junior City Golf Tournament title

An unusually cool summer day greeted the participants in the 2009 Niles Junior City Golf Tournament at Plym Park on Friday.

With temperatures hovering in the 60s, 18 golfers hit the links in four divisions.
Niles’ Christian Ezell grabbed a 7-shot lead halfway through the 17-year-old division and went on to capture the city championship with a score of 85.

Cole Hensel was second with a 88 and Bryan Evans third with a 101.
Dowagiac’s Cody Fairleigh won the 16-year-old Division with the low round of the day at 37 – 1-over par.

Sam Clark was second with a 44 and Dustin Craig third with a 45.
Spencer Suski won the 15-year-old Division following a 1-hole playoff with Andrew Myers.

Both players shot 53. Nick Stewart was third with a 55.
Winning the 13U Division was Michael Baumgartner with a 47. Logan Steffes was second with a 56 and MacKenzie Moody third with a 74.

The Men’s City Tournament kicks off Saturday morning for the first of two days of competition.
