Niles defeats Dexter for title

The Niles Vikings 13U travel team captured the BPA Michigan State Tournament over the weekend in Potterville. POTTERVILLE – The Niles 13U travel baseball team captured the BPA Michigan State Tournament over the weekend to qualify for the World Series in Warsaw, Ind., July 21-26.
The All-Stars defeated Mount Pleasant 11-0, Richfield 8-3, Mount Pleasant 12-2, Central Michigan All-Stars 4-3 and Dexter in the championship game 2-0.
Pitching for Niles during the tournament were Tyler Gnodtke, Tate Rudlaff, Tate Brawley, Austyn Allwood, Connor Glick and Brad Miller.
Leading the way offensively was Allwood, who had nine hits. Matt Hendricks, Rudlaff, Gnodtke and Glick all finished with six hits, while Tate Brawley and Miller each had five hits.
One of Gnodtke’s six hits was a home run.
