Mathilede P. ‘Mattie’ Granning / 1922-2009

Mathilede Patricia “Mattie” Granning, 87, formerly of Wells Street and formerly of South 15th Street, Niles, died at 1:30 a.m. Tuesday, July 14, 2009 at Riveridge Manor, Niles, following an extended illness.
The family is gathering privately for services at the Mausoleum Chapel in Mission Hills Memorial Gardens in Niles, with Elder Ray Fulbright officiating, with internment to follow.
There will be no public visitation.
She was born on May 12, 1922, in Plymouth, Ind. to George and Flossie Mae (Burton) Klingerman. She graduated from South Bend Riley High school and had lived in Niles since 1956.
She was a member of First Presbyterian Church in Niles and the Order of the Eastern Star the Niles Chapter No. 332.
She was a seamstress and enjoyed word search puzzles and playing cards.
She was a great mother and assisted her children in their activities.
On March 10, 1945, in South Bend, Ind., she married James J. Granning, who died on Jan. 17, 2006.
She was also preceded in death by five brothers and sisters.
She is survived by a daughter, Pamela A. (William) Weaver of Niles and a son, Mark A. Granning of South Bend, Ind.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Patient Activity Fund at Riveridge Manor, Niles.
