Kickers Premier claim league title

STEVENSVILLE – The St. Joe Kickers Premier locked up the 2009 Blossomland Soccer regular season championship with a 5-0 win over Barcelona on Thursday night.

In other action, the Niles Wolverines blanked the Tornados 2-0; St. Stephens Villains defeated the St. Joe Kickers Reserves 9-0; the Dowagiac Dawgs and Buchanan FC played to a 1-1 draw; and Real Dowagiac blanked Red Arrow FC 11-0.

The Kickers won their first regular season title since 2005. The Kickers have won three Blossomland Cup championships.

Against Barcelona, Jason Girvan and Ian Armstrong both had two goals and Patrick Burns had the other.

The Kickers are now 9-0-1, while Barcelona is 0-11.

Wolverines…2

Tornados…0

Andy Low had both goals for the Wolverines, who improved to 7-3-2.

The Tornados are now 2-6-3.

Villains…9

Kickers Reserves…0

Ryan Soule had a hat trick for the Villains (10-1).

Jeff Kowalczayk, Rob Schram, Wes Barker, Lang Balazar, Adam Hess and Jovan Leftich also scored.

The Kickers Reserves drop to 0-10.

Buchanan…1

Americo Martinez and Aaron Koziel scored the goals for the Dawgs and Buchanan respectively.

Dowagiac is now 3-6-1 on the year, while Buchanan is 5-4-2.

Real Dowagiac…11

Red Arrow…0

Octavio Hernandez scored eight goals for Dowagiac, which also got goals from Alejandro Hernandez, Rodolfo Hernandez and Cesar Garcia.

Real Dowagiac is 8-1-1 on the year. Red Arrow falls to 2-8.
